Consuming a variety of stories
Yesterday Liz and I watched three movies and I listen to an hour in an audio book.
The Lobster A unique dark romantic comedy. If you start by laughing at the absurdity, the dark quirkiness is easier to internalize. Made me question the way I choose anything, let alone compatibility with my girlfriend.
How We Tell Our Stories At once the story of a blended family, a mystery of ‘who’s the father?’, and a reflection on how stories combine perceptions and tapestries of memories. A clever documentary style.
Citizen Four For two thirds of the two hours taking place in a hotel room in Hong Kong, this was a captivating behind the scenes account of Ed Snowden and the movement and conversation he’s begun. Made me think of what purpose my own writing and storytelling is driving toward.
